Following God’s Directions - Rohan Asundi, Grade 4
Vedas are special books that give you instructions on how you can control your mind and not get angry. It is important to follow directions given in the Vedas.
God expects us to do daily chores like puja, meditation, japamala, and pay attention every single moment of our lives. These chores can then become cultural traditions because every Hindu should do it. Power of thought is so strong that thoughts can come true if you can focus on just one thing at a time.
God provides all resources for the world. He gives us land, soil, and water. Man should not waste these resources because they are God's gift to the world. God tells you to share land, money, and give donations and charity. We should give more than what we take.
God's homework for us is to exercise our body. You should also exercise your mind by doing japamala, meditation, puja, bhajans, shlokas, etc. If you don't do it you can't remain healthy. If your body and mind are healthy then everything goes your way.
If you forget to follow these directions, God sends us reminders – for example, powerful hurricanes, tornadoes, and Tsunamis. It reminds us to do our daily homework that God wants us to do. He also sends us gentle reminders us by making us listen to the little voice in us that tells you the right thing to do. God sends teachers to Chinmaya Mission and they help us learn bhajans, shlokas, symbolism and many other wonderful things about Hindu culture.
