How Balavihar made a difference in my life – Sheela Varadhan, Grade 7

My parents enrolled me in Balavihar to learn about Indian culture and values. I was in 1st grade and barely knew anything about my Indian heritage. In the beginning I didn’t like Balavihar very much and thought it was too complicated and boring. As I moved to higher grades I started to really like Balavihar and tried to attend regularly. The reason I didn’t like it at first was probably because I didn’t understand what the teachers were saying and I didn’t appreciate it as much as I do now.

I learned a lot of things like the traits on how to be a good person and the characteristics that a person should and shouldn’t have. I have learned many new bhajans and slokas that have helped me focus a lot in studies and I have also made lot of Indian friends. I now enjoy coming every week and learning new things.
